good band to listen to while depressed

in some cases yeah, i still have to be in the mood for his sound though. i had a big NIN phase last summer and that was cool.

i bought the downward spiral once i think i listned to it a decent amount maybe i will again someday

tbh i don't really listen to nin all that much anymore but man i was listening to some of it the other day, i was listening to the fragile, and i was like man i wish i could write music like trent reznor

I think he must have already because Year Zero and the Slip were severely lacking

The Slip was something Trent Reznor did in a matter of weeks in 2nd gear, and it's still 7.5+. Have you noticed he's gone quiet of late? He'll come back with something immense. Next year. It could be his best. Also Ghosts I-IV is really decent.

yeah ghosts is good ambient music.

It's just not up to par with the rest of Trent's stuff, it's mostly throwaway except for Lights in the Sky imho

No. He recorded it all specifically for that album. I think it was supposed to be Year Zero 1.5 or something because apparently Year Zero 2 is still on the way

I think it's a top 5 NIN album. Some really decent material on that.

it has some good songs and the sound it works on has potential, but a lot of it is obnoxious, lazy filler. or at least that's how i felt when it came out. i haven't listened to more than select tracks since then.

year zero seems kind of half assed

It's a really mature piece, with some non-self-indulgent lyrical content, which is something of a first for NIN.

for me, this is one of those bands that one listens to when you are 12, and pissed. i have grown tired of them, they seem to be more about money than music, and make promises that they do not live up to.

if by non self indulgent you mean, the lyrics aren't him singing about how bad he feels, then yeah, but he just replaced them with pretty transparent armchair political lyrics.
